Pussy Riot stunt in World Cup final punished

Four members of Russian punk group Pussy Riot were sentenced to 15 days in jail for storming the pitch during the World Cup 2018 final protesting against FIFA policies and political oppression. A Moscow court also banned them from official sports events for four years after they interrupted the event at Luzhiniki Stadium, dressed as cops. The Moscow-based rock band was founded in August 2011 and conducts stunts and performances against human rights violations and political oppression. They shot to fame in February 2012, when Yekaterina Samutsevich, Maria Alyokhina, and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova were sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for a protest at Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.
